Tokyo Gap-Financing Market Unveils 2024 Winners: A Glimpse into Asian Cinema's Future

The Tokyo Gap-Financing Market (TGFM), a pivotal platform for fostering Asian film co-productions, has concluded its 2024 edition by announcing the recipients of its prestigious awards program. This year's event, held from November 6-8 as part of TIFFCOM, showcased 16 promising projects from 10 territories, drawing significant attention from international industry professionals.

The coveted Tokyo Development Award, a testament to outstanding project potential, was presented to 'When the Leaf Falls.' This compelling project hails from Taiwan, skillfully directed by Yen Kuang Chen and produced by Chen Yi-Chang.

It was recognized for its unique narrative and strong development prospects, securing a prize of JPY 1 million (approximately $6,800 USD) to further its journey towards completion.

Vietnam emerged as a strong contender at this year's market, with two of its projects earning top honors. The Content Asia Award, also accompanied by a JPY 1 million prize, was bestowed upon 'A Life in Transferee.' Directed by Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc and produced by Tran Thi Bich Ngoc, this project captivated the jury with its insightful storytelling and market appeal.

Adding to Vietnam's success, 'The Women,' directed by Pham Ngoc Lan and produced by Phan Dang Di, received the Excellent Pitch Award.
