The European Dream That Became an Andhra Nightmare

Imagine, if you will, the sheer desperation of chasing a better life, a chance to provide for your family, perhaps even an exciting adventure abroad. Now, picture that dream turning into an absolute nightmare, all thanks to a meticulously crafted deception. That's precisely the grim reality for hundreds of job aspirants across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, who fell prey to a cunning couple promising them high-paying positions in Europe.

Musunuri Srinivas and his wife Sowjanya, originally hailing from Paidurupadu village near Vijayawada, are now behind bars. They stand accused of orchestrating an elaborate job scam, allegedly siphoning off a staggering sum exceeding Rs 13 crore from hopeful individuals. The couple, operating under the guise of 'Flying Borders Consultancy,' painted vivid pictures of opportunities in countries like the Netherlands, Ireland, Luxembourg, Finland, and even the United Kingdom. And it seems, they were quite convincing, initially.

Their modus operandi was unsettlingly professional, at least on the surface. They’d advertise these seemingly golden opportunities on popular social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram, drawing in a wide net of eager candidates. Then came the 'interviews' – often conducted online, sometimes with their own gang members posing as representatives from foreign companies. Applicants were told to shell out anywhere from Rs 3 lakh to a whopping Rs 13 lakh, depending on the supposed job category. The promise? A guaranteed placement in a coveted European role. But here's the kicker: Flying Borders reportedly never even held the necessary Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) license for overseas recruitment, a crucial red flag.

Many victims, particularly from Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, recounted their harrowing experiences. Approximately 700 individuals from Vijayawada alone lost an estimated Rs 11 crore, while about 130 victims in Visakhapatnam were defrauded of Rs 2.2 crore. Some grew suspicious when the final 'video' interviews turned out to be just audio calls, or when the promised job offers never materialized after they'd already paid significant sums. What's more, the agreements issued by the consultancy were deliberately vague, merely acknowledging cash receipts without specifying they were for overseas employment. A truly insidious detail, wouldn't you say?

The extent of this alleged scam came to light quite recently, around July 23, 2026. Following mounting complaints filed at Machavaram and Ajithsingh Nagar Police Stations, investigative agencies sprang into action. On July 22, 2026, the couple was finally apprehended in Hyderabad. It turns out, this wasn't their first rodeo; they already had eight serious fraud cases registered against them in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Police have since seized assets worth Rs 2.25 crore in immovable properties, including land in Kankipadu, along with Rs 71.45 lakh in gold and a fleet of luxury vehicles, all believed to have been purchased with the ill-gotten gains.

The full scale of this operation might be even larger, with some reports hinting at a broader Rs 20-crore job scam across the two states involving Flying Borders. For the victims, however, the financial loss is only part of the pain. It’s the crushing of their hopes, the betrayal of trust, and the deep emotional scars that will linger. In a desperate plea for justice and redressal, many of these victims addressed a press conference on Monday, July 21, 2026, appealing directly to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh. They truly deserve to be heard, and for those responsible to be held accountable for shattering so many dreams.
