Terror in the Night: Abbotsford Home Hit by Barrage of Bullets While Family Sleeps

An Abbotsford family awoke not to the gentle dawn, but to the chilling reality that their home had been riddled with bullets in the dead of night. Police are actively investigating after multiple shots were fired into a residence on Crown Court, miraculously leaving the sleeping occupants unharmed but undoubtedly shaken.

The harrowing incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday, around 2:30 a.m., in the 3400 block of Crown Court.

Residents inside the home were reportedly fast asleep when the fusillade of gunfire erupted, tearing through the quiet residential street. Upon discovering the extent of the damage, the residents immediately contacted authorities, prompting a swift response from the Abbotsford Police Department (APD).

Paul Walker of the APD confirmed the shooting, detailing the grim discovery of multiple bullet holes in both the exterior and interior of the home. The sheer number of impacts underscores the dangerous nature of the attack, which could have had tragic consequences had the bullets struck occupied areas of the house.

Miraculously, despite the extensive damage and the fact that people were inside, no injuries were reported.

Investigators from the APD's Major Crime Unit, along with the Forensic Identification Unit, were quickly dispatched to the scene. Their meticulous work involved canvassing the area for potential witnesses, collecting crucial forensic evidence such as shell casings, and reviewing any available surveillance footage from neighbouring properties.

While the motive behind this brazen act of violence remains unclear, police have indicated that preliminary information suggests the shooting was not a random act.
