Even in the first half of August, it only managed 199 MU out of 4,359 MU. Compare that to July 2025, when hydel power was a shining star, providing an impressive 11.79% of total consumption. While Telangana's major reservoirs boast a substantial flood cushion of over 300 tmc ft, the prospects for widespread irrigation under existing projects remain, shall we say, rather uncertain. Without significant and sustained inflows from upstream states, that cushion might as well be a mirage for farmers hoping to water their crops. But alas, the 'sizable flood' they were anticipating lasted, as he put it, 'only about a fortnight.' In the grand scheme of things, it was barely a drop in the bucket. Telangana's battle for stable power in the face of unpredictable monsoons continues, a testament to the ever-present challenges of climate and energy.
