Teen Faces Attempted Murder Charges After Violent West End Toronto Shooting

A shocking incident in Toronto's bustling west end has led to the arrest and charging of a 16-year-old boy with attempted murder. The serious charges stem from a shooting that occurred last month, leaving a 20-year-old man with significant injuries.

Toronto Police Service responded to reports of gunfire on Wednesday, March 20, in the vicinity of Scarlett Road and St.

Clair Avenue West. Officers arriving at the scene located a 20-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he received treatment for injuries described as serious but fortunately non-life-threatening.

The incident triggered an intensive investigation by officers from 11 Division.

Their diligent work culminated in an arrest, with authorities taking a 16-year-old male into custody in connection with the shooting.

The young suspect now faces a formidable list of charges that underscore the gravity of the alleged crime. These include attempted murder, discharging a firearm with intent to wound, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, and aggravated assault.

Due to his age, the identity of the accused cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
