Shradda Dubey Nabbed After 11‑Day Run‑away: Burqa, Nepal Trip and Taxi Swaps Fooled Lucknow Police

Lucknow Police Arrest Shraddha Dubey, Sister and Driver in Nagpur After Elaborate Escape

Accused in the high‑profile Shiva Sharma murder case was captured in Nagpur after an 11‑day chase involving a burqa disguise, a fake Nepal trip and multiple taxi changes.

After a grueling eleven‑day hunt, Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow police finally hauled in Shraddha Dubey – the prime suspect in the Shiva Sharma murder case – along with her sister Rashmi Dubey and their driver Danish. The trio was found in Nagpur, a city nearly 840 kilometres away from the capital.

According to ADG (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash, Shraddha tried to stay one step ahead of the investigators by wrapping herself in a burqa, hopping between taxis and bouncing from one modest hotel to another. She kept her phone usage to a bare minimum, a tactic that made it painfully hard for the police to pin down her location.

One of the more baffling twists in her flight was a brief so‑called "trip" to Nepal. Yash explained that Shraddha crossed the border not to escape the country, but to throw the police off her scent. She returned to Uttar Pradesh a few days later, deliberately letting the narrative linger that she was still abroad, before disappearing again.

During the chase, Shraddha reportedly stayed in small, low‑profile inns where guest registration was lax or non‑existent. Each time the police closed in, she would slip out of one taxi, hop into another, and vanish into a new city, often 10 to 12 hours ahead of the law‑enforcement convoy.

Even after the arrest, investigators have yet to identify any accomplices who may have helped her navigate such a long, convoluted route. Yash hinted that a network of unnamed helpers could still be under scrutiny, and that further revelations might surface during questioning.

The next step, according to the ADG, is to escort Shraddha, Rashmi and Danish back to Lucknow. The journey won’t be instantaneous; the teams will need rest before covering the remaining distance. Nonetheless, officials are confident the suspects will be presented before the court soon.
