Series of Blazes Sweep Delhi: Students Saved in Karol Bagh, Residents Rescued in Hari Nagar, and a Warehouse Ignites in Swaroop Colony

On Wednesday a sudden blaze erupted in a mixed‑use building in Karol Bagh. The ground floor housed a tiny shoe‑making workshop while the upper level was a paying‑guest residence. As the flames leapt higher, two students who were staying there managed to scramble out, thanks to the prompt actions of five fire tenders and a squad of police officers. Senior officers coordinated traffic diversions and safety checks while the Delhi Fire Service kept the fire under tight watch.

Just a day earlier, the quiet of a Hari Nagar residential complex was shattered by a massive fire that broke out in its parking area near Fateh Nagar Jail Road, close to the well‑known Ranbir Bakery. The heat was so intense that two LPG cylinders exploded, sending scorching debris across the lot and damaging four parked vehicles. Emergency crews raced in, and eight residents trapped inside were pulled to safety. Assistant Divisional Officer Ravi Nath of the Delhi Fire Service confirmed the incident, noting the quick containment but stressing the danger of such explosions.

Meanwhile, on Sunday a different kind of inferno lit up Swaroop Colony, located under the jurisdiction of the Fatehpur Beri police station. A warehouse storing event‑management supplies caught fire and the flames spilled over into a neighboring tin‑shed structure. Fifteen fire tenders, along with police and CATS ambulances, swarmed the scene. Assistant Divisional Officer Rajesh Kumar Shukla described it as a Category 4 fire that had fully engulfed the tin‑shed but, fortunately, caused no injuries. Firefighters now focus on cooling operations to stop any chance of re‑ignition.

All three incidents underscore the relentless challenges faced by Delhi’s fire services. While the immediate threats were neutralised and lives saved, officials are still probing the exact causes – from possible electrical faults to unsafe storage of gas cylinders – and urging stricter compliance with safety norms.
