Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar Unleashes Scathing Attack on AAP Government Over Floods, Files Police Complaint Against Alleged Centre Defamation

In a fiery address that reverberated across Punjab, state BJP President Sunil Jakhar has delivered a blistering indictment of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, holding it squarely responsible for the recent devastating floods that wreaked havoc across the state. Not stopping there, Jakhar also announced the filing of a police complaint against what he described as a malicious social media campaign designed to defame the Central government by falsely accusing it of withholding crucial flood relief funds.

Jakhar, sparing no words, categorically stated that the AAP government's gross negligence and mismanagement were the primary culprits behind the widespread inundation.

He highlighted a severe lapse in flood preparedness, accusing the state administration of failing to take timely preventive measures, including the critical desilting of rivers and canals, despite ample warnings and resources.

“The AAP government’s dereliction of duty is glaring,” Jakhar asserted.

“They were caught completely unprepared, and the people of Punjab paid the price. It's not just incompetence; it's a profound failure to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of our citizens.” He pointed out that while the state was grappling with the aftermath, the AAP government seemed more interested in deflecting blame than in providing tangible relief or admitting its shortcomings.

Adding another layer to his allegations, Jakhar revealed that a police complaint has been lodged against individuals he claims are orchestrating a coordinated social media offensive.

This campaign, according to Jakhar, aims to paint the Central government in a negative light by fabricating narratives about its alleged refusal to release flood relief funds to Punjab. He vehemently rejected these claims, terming them as a desperate and cynical attempt to shift public scrutiny away from the state government's own failings.

“Let me be unequivocally clear: the Central government has stood firmly by Punjab,” Jakhar declared, countering the misinformation.

He emphasized that all due funds have been released by the Centre, citing a substantial grant of Rs 218 crore under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) that Punjab received in two timely installments. Furthermore, Jakhar underscored Union Home Minister Amit Shah's unwavering commitment, referencing his explicit assurance to Punjab of full support during these challenging times.

Jakhar did not shy away from questioning the AAP government's priorities and capabilities, especially regarding the maintenance of Punjab's extensive canal network and flood management infrastructure.

He brought to light a damning report by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) which had previously flagged significant deficiencies in Punjab’s flood management strategies, suggesting that the current crisis was not an unforeseen calamity but a disaster waiting to happen due to systemic issues left unaddressed.
