Pune Shaken: Dispute Over Dropping Girl Escalates to Midnight Firing, Three Arrested

PUNE – A seemingly innocuous act of kindness spiraled into a night of terror in Pune’s Wadgaon Budruk area on a recent Saturday, culminating in a dramatic firing incident and the swift arrest of three individuals. What began as an argument over dropping a girl home quickly escalated, showcasing how easily simmering tensions can erupt into dangerous confrontations.

The harrowing sequence of events unfolded late Saturday night, around 10:30 PM.

The catalyst for the ensuing chaos was an alleged dispute involving Rishikesh Landge (24), who reportedly took strong exception to Aditya Jadhav, a friend of the girl, having dropped her home earlier. This perceived slight set the stage for a dangerous confrontation.

According to police reports, Landge, accompanied by two associates, Aadesh Kalbhor (20) and Shubham Mane (22), confronted Aditya.

The argument quickly intensified, leading to the trio forcibly taking Aditya's motorcycle. Unsatisfied with this, Rishikesh Landge then proceeded to Aditya’s residence, his anger apparently boiling over.

Upon reaching Aditya’s home, Landge allegedly demanded Aditya’s car keys. When met with resistance, the situation took a far more sinister turn.

Landge is accused of pulling out a pistol and firing a single round directly at a wall within the premises, sending shockwaves through Aditya’s family who were present at the scene. Fortunately, no one was injured in the terrifying discharge, but the brazen act underscored the extreme peril of the situation.

Following the alarming incident, local authorities were immediately alerted.

The Sinhagad Road police acted promptly, launching a swift investigation that led to the identification and apprehension of the three suspects: Rishikesh Landge, Aadesh Kalbhor, and Shubham Mane. Investigators also successfully recovered the pistol allegedly used in the firing, a crucial piece of evidence in the case.

The accused now face a range of serious charges, reflecting the severity of their actions.

They have been booked under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 387 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 34, which pertains to acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention. Additionally, relevant sections of the Arms Act have been invoked, highlighting the illegal possession and use of the firearm.
