Pune Police Apprehend Minors, Adult in Horrific Gang Rape Case of Teenager

Pune police have made a crucial breakthrough in a deeply disturbing case, apprehending four individuals, including three minors and a 20-year-old man, in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 17-year-old girl. The arrests come after a detailed investigation into an incident that reportedly took place in January this year, but was only brought to light and registered by authorities in late April.

According to police reports, the horrifying incident unfolded when the 17-year-old victim was allegedly lured by the suspects under the false pretense of attending a friend's birthday party.

Instead, she was taken to a secluded area within an agriculture farm where the heinous crime was committed. The emotional trauma prevented the victim from immediately disclosing her ordeal.

It was not until April 28 that the brave teenager found the courage to confide in her mother about the traumatic event.

Promptly, her mother approached the local police station, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the alleged perpetrators. The case has been filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including those pertaining to gang rape, and critically, under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, given the victim's minor age.

Following the registration of the FIR, investigators launched a swift and focused search operation.

Their efforts culminated in the identification and arrest of the four suspects. The three minors involved have been subsequently sent to a juvenile observation home, in accordance with the law governing juvenile offenders. The adult accused, a 20-year-old man, has been taken into police custody as the investigation progresses.

Authorities have emphasized their commitment to ensuring justice for the victim.
