It wasn't just a local effort; officers from all 13 OPP detachments in the West Region were out in full force, meticulously checking commercial trucks and drivers. Their goal, quite simply, was to tackle those driving behaviours that far too often contribute to serious collisions involving these large vehicles.

So, what did they find here in Essex County? Well, 13 charges were laid right on our local roads. Digging a little deeper, the issues were varied but concerning. Five of those charges were for basic administrative hiccups—things like expired permits, improper plates, or drivers operating without a valid license. Another four charges stemmed from inspection and maintenance failures, which, let's be honest, can be incredibly dangerous. And then, there were the two perennial problems: two speeding charges and two instances of distracted driving. It's a stark reminder that even seasoned commercial drivers can sometimes forget the fundamentals.
