One Dead, Road Closed After Serious Crash on Beachville Road Near Woodstock

Early Tuesday afternoon, a serious traffic collision on Beachville Road just east of Woodstock turned the quiet stretch of highway into a scene of chaos. Emergency crews arrived within minutes, lights flashing, sirens wailing, to tend to the wreckage and the victims.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police, a single‑vehicle crash involving a dark‑colored pickup truck resulted in the driver’s death. The driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants were rescued, one with serious injuries and the other with minor cuts; both were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Because of the severity of the incident, OPP officers closed Beachville Road for several hours while they cleared the debris, documented the scene, and conducted a preliminary investigation. Motorists were redirected onto County Road 7 and Highway 401, a detour that added roughly fifteen minutes to the usual travel time.

“We’re still piecing together exactly what happened,” said OPP Sgt. Mark Rivera in a brief statement. “At this stage, we can’t say whether speed, impairment, or a mechanical failure played a role.” He asked anyone who might have witnessed the crash to contact the OPP’s traffic division.

The closure was lifted just after 5 p.m., allowing traffic to resume its normal flow. However, authorities warned drivers to remain cautious, as wet road conditions persisted and visibility was reduced by lingering rain clouds.

Local residents expressed shock at the sudden tragedy. “It’s a tight‑knit community here,” said Mary Collins, a neighbour who lives a few houses down from the crash site. “We don’t see accidents like this around here. It’s a real reminder to stay alert on the road.”
