Odisha Devastated: Five Killed, Dozens Injured as Tourist Bus Overturns Near Nayagarh

The bus was reportedly on its way back from Phulbani, carrying a group of pilgrims or tourists heading towards the sacred city of Puri. Eyewitnesses or preliminary reports suggest the driver somehow lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid violently before it flipped over, a truly horrific scene in the dark of night.

Among the deceased, sadly, were a significant number of women and children, making the tragedy even more poignant. In the wake of this catastrophe, Odisha's Chief Minister expressed profound grief and announced a measure of support for the victims' families. An ex-gratia compensation of Rs 3 lakh has been sanctioned for the next of kin of each deceased person. Furthermore, the state government has pledged to provide free medical treatment to all those injured in this unfortunate accident, which, while not bringing back loved ones, offers some much-needed relief.
