Nora Fatehi slapped with a Rs 3‑crore defamation suit after calling a chartered jet a ‘Lego airplane’

Bollywood dancer‑singer Nora Fatehi found herself on the wrong side of a courtroom after a comment she posted on Instagram sparked a legal storm. The remark, made in December 2025, described a chartered Cessna Citation CJ2 she travelled in as a "miniature", a "toy" and, most strikingly, a "Lego airplane".

What began as a casual, perhaps tongue‑in‑cheek observation quickly escalated. Dunes Aviation, the firm that operated the flight from Mumbai to Jaipur, filed a civil defamation suit worth Rs 3 crore in a Gandhinagar court. In its pleading, the company argues that Fatehi’s large online following turned a harmless quip into a reputational nightmare.

According to the suit, the Instagram videos—short clips taken inside the aircraft—were seen by millions. Dunes Aviation claims the posts led to a “serious reputational damage”, a dip in bookings of about 15‑20 %, and a spike in cancellations. The firm insists the Cessna Citation CJ2 was perfectly suited for the route, fully air‑worthy and operating under a valid Non‑Scheduled Operator’s Permit.

The legal paperwork labels Fatehi’s comments as “reckless, irresponsible and made without any technical knowledge, verification or factual basis”. It also seeks the removal of the posts, a public clarification from the actress, and the full Rs 3 crore in damages.

Senior civil judge R Agarwal is slated to hear the matter on September 25, 2026. Until then, both sides are gearing up: the airline preparing evidence of lost revenue, and the actress’s counsel likely arguing freedom of expression and the subjective nature of her remark.

Whether a brief Instagram caption can truly dent a niche aviation business remains to be seen, but the case is already a reminder that celebrity words travel far—and sometimes land you in court.
