Mines Fire Scorches 132 Acres in East Bay, Cal Fire Reports

On Sunday afternoon, just after the clock struck two, a wildfire erupted in the hills south of Livermore. Cal Fire identified the blaze as the Mines Fire, named after the nearby Mines Road intersection.

The flames took hold along Mines Road and the winding San Antonio Valley Road, a spot known for its dry chaparral and rugged terrain. By early evening, around 5:23 p.m., the fire had claimed roughly 132 acres of brush and sage, and officials said they had only managed to contain about ten percent of it.
