Ludhiana MC Chief Declares War: Five Illegal Colonies Face Demolition

In a decisive and unyielding move, Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Sandeep Rishi has brought the hammer down on illegal urban sprawl, ordering the immediate demolition of five unauthorised colonies across the city. This stern directive underscores the MC's unwavering commitment to stamping out unsanctioned developments that not only flout urban planning regulations but also burden the city's infrastructure and resources.

The colonies targeted for demolition include 'Baba Deep Singh Enclave' on Sua Road, 'New Aman Nagar' on GT Road, another unauthorised settlement near New Aman Nagar, an illegal colony near Radha Swami Road, and one situated at Tibba Road.

These areas, developed without the mandatory approvals from the MC, have long represented a significant challenge for civic authorities, who are left with the colossal task of providing basic amenities like water, sewerage, and roads in such unplanned localities at the taxpayers' expense.

Commissioner Rishi's action is not an isolated incident but rather a clear signal of the intensified drive against illegal construction that has plagued Ludhiana.

The MC has been actively monitoring such developments, issuing show-cause notices to developers, and even lodging First Information Reports (FIRs) against those found to be creating or facilitating these unauthorised settlements. During a recent meeting with officials from the building branch, Commissioner Rishi reiterated his zero-tolerance policy.

The focus is not just on demolishing existing structures but also on preventing new ones from emerging.
