Dayanand, announced a holiday for all schools across five key taluks on Friday, June 14. This crucial directive affects educational institutions in Thirthahalli, Hosanagar, Sagara, Sorab, and Shivamogga taluks, effectively shutting their doors for the day as a precautionary measure against the escalating weather conditions.

The decision comes on the heels of a stark warning from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall across Karnataka's coastal and Malnad districts.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, the IMD has not ruled out the possibility of "extremely heavy rain" at isolated places within these regions. Both Orange and Yellow alerts have been sounded, signaling the potential for significant weather-related disruptions and hazards.
