India's Agricultural Revolution: Government Expands Pulse Procurement to Empower Farmers and Ensure Food Security

In a monumental stride towards agricultural prosperity and national food security, the Indian government has announced a significant expansion of its pulse procurement program. This landmark decision will now include three crucial pulses – tur (pigeon pea), urad (black gram), and masoor (lentil) – ensuring that farmers receive the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce.

The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, heralded this initiative as a game-changer during the 'Sahakar se Samriddhi' event in New Delhi.

Under this renewed commitment, the procurement of these pulses will be meticulously carried out by the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED) and the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India Ltd (NCCF).

This robust institutional framework ensures efficiency, transparency, and timely payments directly into the bank accounts of registered farmers, eliminating middlemen and fostering greater trust.
