Delhi Gears Up for Festive Rush: CM Kejriwal Leads Major Crowd Management Review at NDLS

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal recently spearheaded a crucial high-level meeting to meticulously review and enhance crowd management strategies at the bustling New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS). With the festive season—including Diwali and Chhath Puja—fast approaching, the national capital anticipates an enormous influx of passengers, necessitating proactive and robust measures to ensure safe and smooth travel for everyone.

During the comprehensive review, CM Kejriwal emphasized the paramount importance of seamless coordination among all involved agencies.

Attendees included top officials from Indian Railways, Delhi Police, the Delhi Transport Department, Civil Defence, and municipal corporations. The collaborative discussion focused on crafting an integrated plan to efficiently handle the expected surge in footfall, mitigate potential bottlenecks, and prioritize passenger safety and comfort above all else.

Key areas of focus included deploying additional security personnel to manage queues and platforms, improving surveillance, and strengthening quick response teams for any emergencies.

Special attention was given to optimizing traffic flow in and around the station premises, with plans for dedicated entry and exit points, enhanced parking management, and sufficient public transport options to facilitate onward journeys.

The meeting also addressed crucial passenger amenities.

Officials discussed ensuring continuous availability of clean drinking water, adequate food stalls, and maintaining high standards of sanitation across the station. Provisions for comfortable waiting areas and medical assistance were also high on the agenda, underscoring the commitment to a hassle-free travel experience.

The Chief Minister urged the implementation of clear signage and public announcement systems to guide passengers effectively and disseminate vital information.

In a bid to further alleviate congestion, the possibility of running additional special trains to various destinations was also explored in coordination with Indian Railways.

These measures collectively aim to transform the potentially overwhelming festive rush into an organized and pleasant journey for the lakhs of people who will pass through New Delhi Railway Station during this celebratory period.
