Community Mourns David McDevitt After Tragic Coal Creek Crash

A pall of sorrow has fallen over the Louisville community following the tragic death of David McDevitt, a beloved 48-year-old teacher and devoted father, who was killed in a devastating head-on collision near Coal Creek Canyon Road. The accident, which occurred on the evening of October 16, 2025, has left friends, family, and former students reeling from the sudden loss of a man described as a pillar of kindness and dedication.

Colorado State Patrol reported that McDevitt’s westbound sedan was struck by an eastbound pickup truck that allegedly crossed the center line on Highway 36, just west of the Coal Creek Canyon intersection, around 7:30 PM.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the chaotic scene, but despite their best efforts, McDevitt was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 22-year-old Sarah Jensen, also sustained serious injuries in the crash and was immediately transported to a local hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition.
