Charlottesville's Diamond Jubilee: Celebrating 75 Years of the Dogwood Festival!

Get ready, Charlottesville! A beloved tradition is about to blossom anew as the Charlottesville Dogwood Festival prepares to celebrate its spectacular 75th anniversary. From April 11th to 14th, the city will come alive with a vibrant "Diamond Jubilee" themed celebration, promising four days of dazzling delights, cherished community spirit, and unforgettable memories for all ages.

Since its inception in 1950 by the dedicated Charlottesville Dogwood Festival, Inc., this annual spring event has been a cornerstone of local culture, recognizing outstanding community spirit and bringing residents together.

What began as a simple celebration has grown into a cherished tradition, honoring local leaders, featuring the esteemed Dogwood Court – young women selected for their exceptional leadership and character – and culminating in a grand parade led by a distinguished Grand Marshal.

This year’s milestone anniversary promises an extra special lineup of events.

The festivities kick off on Thursday, April 11th, with the thrilling carnival opening its gates at McIntire Park from 5 PM to 10 PM. Prepare for classic rides, games, and mouth-watering treats that will transport you back to childhood.

The fun continues on Friday, April 12th, with the carnival running from 5 PM to 11 PM.

But that's not all – Friday evening will also showcase the incredible talent of local performers at the much-anticipated Dogwood Festival Talent Show, a chance to see Charlottesville's stars shine!

Saturday, April 13th, is undoubtedly the highlight of the festival. The day begins at 10 AM with the iconic Dogwood Grand Parade, a spectacular procession winding through the historic Downtown Mall.

Expect dazzling floats, marching bands, community groups, and the elegant Dogwood Court, all parading in celebration of seventy-five years of tradition. Following the parade, the carnival reopens at McIntire Park from 1 PM to 11 PM, offering extended hours of exhilaration.
