Cash Catastrophe: Delhi Police ASI's Desperate Bid to Evade Vigilance Results in 'Money Rain' Outside Station

An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Delhi Police, identified as Anil Kumar, found himself cornered by a vigilance team from the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB).

In a desperate and utterly dramatic attempt to dispose of incriminating evidence, he resorted to throwing bundles of cash – a staggering Rs 10 lakh – out of his office window, causing an impromptu 'money rain' outside the station premises.

The unfolding drama began when the ACB received a complaint from a courageous woman.

She alleged that ASI Kumar had demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to facilitate the release of her relative, who was embroiled in a case. Acting swiftly on this critical information, the vigilance team meticulously laid a trap, aiming to catch the corrupt official in the act.

On the fateful day, as the ACB team descended upon his office, ASI Kumar’s nerves clearly frayed.

Caught red-handed after allegedly accepting the bribe, panic set in. Rather than face the music, he made a frantic dash towards his window, unleashing the bundles of cash into the open air below. The sudden shower of banknotes created an immediate spectacle, attracting the attention of passersby and personnel within the station compound, who watched in disbelief as money fluttered to the ground.

The surreal sight of currency raining down quickly turned into a collection effort, as onlookers scrambled to gather the scattered notes.

Meanwhile, the vigilance team, unfazed by the ASI's desperate theatrics, meticulously documented the scene and recovered the scattered evidence. This audacious attempt to destroy proof ultimately failed, as the entire amount was accounted for and seized by the investigating officers.

Following the shocking incident, an First Information Report (FIR) was promptly registered against ASI Anil Kumar under the stringent provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
