Calgary's Brisk Wednesday Morning Gives Way to a Week of Sunshine and Milder Temperatures

Well, good morning, Calgary! If you stepped outside early this Wednesday, you undoubtedly felt that distinct, invigorating bite in the air, didn't you? It was definitely one of those mornings where you questioned whether your coffee was hot enough or your coat was thick enough. Our local meteorologists had certainly called it, predicting a proper chilly start to the day.

Indeed, temperatures were quite nippy as the sun began to peek over the horizon. We were looking at a rather brisk -10°C around 6 a.m., but honestly, that hardly tells the full story. When you factored in the wind chill – oh, that sneaky wind chill – it truly felt more like a bone-chilling -17°C. Not exactly ideal for that morning dog walk or the dash to the bus, right?

But here's the silver lining, the wonderful news we all crave: things were set to take a much-appreciated turn as the day unfolded. By lunchtime, we were already expecting to see temperatures creep up a bit, perhaps touching -6°C. And by the time the evening rolled around, the forecast was pointing towards a more forgiving -2°C. A gradual thaw, if you will, promising a less intense commute home.

And looking beyond just Wednesday, it seems Calgary is in for a rather pleasant stretch of weather, which is always a welcome relief after a sharp cold snap. Thursday, for instance, is shaping up to be a real treat with a high of +2°C, accompanied by plenty of glorious sunshine. Imagine that – shedding a layer or two!

The good vibes continue into Friday, where we're expecting even milder conditions with a high of +4°C and still a good dose of sunshine. And if you're already dreaming of weekend plans, Saturday and Sunday are looking equally delightful. Expect highs of +5°C and +6°C respectively, both bathed in ample sunshine. It sounds like a truly spectacular weekend to get out and enjoy our beautiful city, maybe even without a full winter parka!

So, while Wednesday morning gave us a stern reminder that winter isn't quite done with us yet, the overall outlook is undeniably positive.
