BJP Challenges Rahul Gandhi Over Congress-era Exam Paper Leaks Amid NEET Controversy

After Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan quit in the wake of massive protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET‑UG exam, the BJP wasted no time in steering the conversation back to Congress’s own track record.

Andhra Pradesh BJP spokesperson Shaik Baji took to the podium and, without mincing words, asked Rahul Gandhi to count the number of paper‑leak incidents that occurred while the Congress was in power and, more pointedly, how many officials stepped down as a result. “We want Mr. Gandhi to reflect on what happened under his party’s tenure and think about the future,” Baji told ANI, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a leader ready to correct any wrongs that arise under his watch.

Modi, for his part, has repeatedly promised stricter action against anyone found meddling with exam papers, signalling a no‑tolerance stance that the opposition hopes will highlight the BJP’s “clean‑handed” governance.

Meanwhile, Delhi Cabinet Minister and BJP National Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa turned his attention to the Aam Aadmi Party, accusing it of double standards. Sirsa questioned why AAP has not called for the resignation of Punjab Education Minister Harjot Bains, despite the latter’s alleged involvement in a state‑level paper‑leak controversy.

Sirsa reminded followers that AAP leader Manish Sisodia had previously vowed that any minister linked to a paper leak should step down. “When it was their turn to demand Bains’s resignation, they vanished,” Sirsa posted on X, suggesting that the party’s rhetoric does not match its actions.

The exchange underscores how the NEET saga has become a political flashpoint, with the BJP leveraging the scandal to challenge both the Congress and the AAP on accountability and student safety.
