Andhra Pradesh Reports 10 New COVID‑19 Cases, Cumulative Tally Hits 49

On Saturday, the health department of Andhra Pradesh announced that ten more people tested positive for COVID‑19, nudging the state’s overall count to 49. The grim death toll, however, stayed steady at four.

Breaking down the fresh numbers, three of the new patients came from Guntur district, two from the NTR region, and a single case each was identified in Alluri Sitaramaraju, Eluru, Krishna, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam. The official bulletin noted that East Godavari remains the hardest hit district overall, having logged eleven cases so far.

Elsewhere, Guntur reported nine infections in total, YSR Kadapa eight, Visakhapatnam five, NTR three, while Kakinada, Eluru and Bapatla each logged two new cases. The numbers may seem modest, but the department is treating them seriously.

At present, 24 patients are admitted to hospitals across the state, receiving medical care under close supervision. Another 16 individuals are convalescing at home, monitored by doctors who make regular check‑ins to ensure a smooth recovery.

Since the virus first appeared, five patients have recovered and left the hospital, breathing a sigh of relief. Unfortunately, four lives were lost – three in YSR Kadapa and one in Kakinada – underscoring that the threat is far from over.

In response, the health ministry says it has stepped up surveillance, keeping a vigilant eye on any surge in cases. Additional beds have been earmarked in government hospitals, and medical teams are on standby to handle any uptick.

While the numbers are low compared with the peaks of earlier years, officials caution against complacency. They urge residents to continue following basic preventive measures – wearing masks, maintaining distance, and getting vaccinated – to keep the curve flat.
