ARLINGTON, Texas — Seems Jimmy Johnson is all the way back on the Dallas Cowboys' bandwagon. After the legendary Dallas coach was finally inducted into the Cowboys' Ring of Honor in late December and about 20 years too late, for what it's worth Johnson has no issue holding back his preference for his old team these days.
For proof, look no further than FOX's halftime show during the Cowboys' playoff game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, when Johnson went off when asked what he'd say in the locker room to inspire the Cowboys, who were losing 27 7 at the half , if he were still their coach. JIMMY JOHNSON IS FIRED UP You have to hear this message he had for the Cowboys! pic.twitter.com/cSc70hdIoz After first acknowledging that he'd pepper what he'd say to the players with words he can't use on TV, Johnson launched into an impassioned plea for improved effort from the Cowboys.
"I'll just say this: Every single one of you, you know how hard we've worked," he said. "I don't need to have people pointing their fingers [at] one thing or another. You get your rear end in there, and you play the way you know how to play! We can win the game! We're gonna open it up, we're gonna go fast tempo.
Defense, get after Jordan Love you can't give him that much time. You do what you're supposed to do, and we'll win this game!" The speech certainly hyped up the NFL on FOX in studio broadcast crew. Immediately after Johnson wrapped up his rant, his FOX crewmates Michael Strahan and Rob Gronkowski got into football positions and looked ready to run through walls.
Meanwhile, Terry Bradshaw said he "could not agree more" with what Johnson had to say. Whether current Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy cooked up anything nearly as effective in real life as what Johnson had to say on TV remains to be seen..
