Abbotsford Police Probe Shooting That Ignited a Vehicle

On Tuesday afternoon, a quiet street in Abbotsford suddenly became the scene of a disturbing incident when a vehicle was riddled with gunfire and erupted into flames. Neighbours reported hearing a series of rapid‑fire cracks, followed moments later by a roar as the car burst into fire.

First‑responders arrived within minutes, pulling the burning vehicle away from nearby homes and managing to extinguish the blaze before it could spread. Thankfully, no one was injured; the driver had already left the vehicle, and the surrounding area was cleared in time.

Abbott­ford Police Service (APS) released a statement confirming that they are treating the case as a homicide investigation, even though the motive remains unclear. Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood, gathering CCTV footage, and speaking with anyone who might have seen a suspect or heard additional shots.
