A Dinner Out Turned Nightmare: Man Charged with Murder After Fatal Stabbing at TGI Fridays

Indeed, authorities have since moved swiftly, filing murder charges against a Newark man in connection with this tragic incident.

The victim, identified as 48-year-old Vincent Ippolito of Berkeley Heights, sadly lost his life following the violent altercation. According to the Union County Prosecutor's Office, the events that led to this devastating outcome began sometime on Friday, January 10, 2026. An argument, the specifics of which are still being pieced together, broke out within the popular restaurant. What started as a dispute, unfortunately, escalated to a point where a weapon was drawn, and Ippolito suffered fatal injuries.

The individual now facing these grave charges is David Jones, a 27-year-old resident of Newark. Investigators allege that after the stabbing, Jones didn't linger. He reportedly fled the scene, vanishing into the night as emergency services arrived to attend to the gravely wounded Ippolito.
