Xiaomi Rolls Out the First HyperOS 4 Beta to Select Flagship Users

In mid‑August Xiaomi gave us a glimpse of HyperOS 4 – a sleek, glass‑like skin that promises a smoother Android experience. Fast‑forward a few weeks and the company has opened the first beta to a handful of lucky owners.

If you happen to own a Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the standard Xiaomi 17, or the Leica‑branded Leitzphone, you’re already on the list. Just hop into Settings → About phone and tap the version number a couple of times – that forces a manual check for the beta if the automatic notification hasn’t shown up yet.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t a blanket release for every Xiaomi device. For now, the beta is confined to those three models, which is probably a sensible move while the engineers iron out any rough edges.

Good news for the rest of the community: on September 17 – that’s only two days away – the beta will be extended to owners of the Xiaomi 17T, 17T Pro, Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Whether the program will keep expanding beyond that remains a mystery; Xiaomi hasn’t given any hints about future device support.

There’s also no official timetable for the stable version of HyperOS 4. As is typical with major UI overhauls, the final rollout could take a few more months, so patience is still required.

Meanwhile, if you’re curious about the hardware that’s currently getting the beta, the 17 Ultra ships with a massive 512 GB storage option and 16 GB of RAM, while the regular 17 offers 12 GB RAM with 256 GB or 512 GB variants. The Leica Leitzphone, although a niche product, follows the same high‑end specs.
