Wrong‑Way Crash on 210 Freeway Sends Truck Ablaze, Injures Multiple People

On Saturday evening, around 5:45 p.m., drivers on the westbound 210 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley were treated to a scene no one expects on a typical commute. A Tesla, reportedly traveling the wrong direction at high speed, slammed head‑first into a box truck near the 118 interchange in Lake View Terrace.

The impact was severe enough to tip the truck over. Within minutes, a second collision involving additional vehicles was reported, and the overturned box truck burst into flames, casting an orange glow that could be seen from several blocks away.

Los Angeles fire crews arrived quickly. They fought the blaze for over an hour before finally dousing the flames. Four people were evaluated on the scene—some with deep cuts, others with more serious injuries—and were either treated there or taken to nearby hospitals.

California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert, shutting down all but one westbound lane between Osborne Street and the 118. Traffic snarled for nearly five hours before the alert was lifted and the full freeway reopened at about 10:35 p.m.

Videos posted to the Citizen App show a victim with a gaping laceration on an arm, while another ambulance loads a patient amid the chaos. The incident remains under investigation, and officials are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
