Vinod Chopra Films’ Classics Revived in 8K, Team Up with NH Studioz

Vinod Chopra Films restores its entire library in 8K and partners with NH Studioz for worldwide distribution

The iconic catalogue of Vinod Chopra Films has been painstakingly restored in 8K resolution with Dolby 5.1 sound and will now be managed and released globally by NH Studioz.

After more than five years of painstaking work, Vinod Chopra Films has finally breathed new life into every title it ever produced. Using the state‑of‑the‑art facilities at Mumbai’s Prasad Film Labs – and with select titles polished at Bologna’s renowned L'Immagine Ritrovata – the entire catalogue now shines in crisp 8K resolution, while the audio has been lifted into immersive Dolby 5.1 surround. It’s a visual and auditory upgrade that makes the classics feel fresh, yet unmistakably true to their original spirit.

But looking great on a screen is only half the story. To ensure these rejuvenated gems find their way to audiences everywhere, Vinod Chopra Films has sealed a long‑term partnership with NH Studioz, India’s biggest film‑rights powerhouse. The deal bundles rights management, theatrical rollout, global syndication and next‑generation monetisation under one roof, giving the collection – which includes blockbusters like 3 Idiots, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and Parinda – a unified champion.

NH Studioz says the collaboration will follow a “cinema‑first” philosophy. In practice, that means the restored films will first make a comeback on the big screen before drifting onto television, streaming services, FAST channels and other non‑theatrical platforms. It’s a nod to the way these movies were originally meant to be experienced: in a dark hall, surrounded by fellow movie‑goers.

“Some film libraries entertain audiences. Others define generations,” said Narendra Hirawat, founder of NH Studioz. “The Vinod Chopra Films catalogue belongs to the latter. Our job is to let people rediscover these stories the way they were always meant to be seen – starting with the theatre and then moving across every medium.” Vidhu Vinod Chopra added, “We’ve always believed ‘chase excellence, success will follow.’ Restoring our titles in 8K has given them a new lease on life, and partnering with NH Studioz helps us bring them back to viewers in the format they love.”

With the partnership in place, the combined library now swells to over 5,000 titles across multiple Indian languages, reinforcing NH Studioz’s claim as the nation’s largest rights holder. Fans can look forward to seeing beloved classics return to cinemas soon, followed by their arrival on TV and OTT platforms later in the year.
