Vadodara Pedals Into Action: Cyclothon Boosts Fitness, Cleanliness Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit

On a bright September morning, the streets of Vadodara turned into a buzzing river of bicycles as the city hosted a large‑scale cyclothon. The event, framed under the banner of ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’, was more than just a ride – it was a call for healthier habits and a cleaner environment.

Organisers tied the rally to three flagship programmes – Fit India, Viksit Bharat and the local ‘Green Vadodara’ drive. The idea was simple yet powerful: pedal for fitness, while spreading the message of Swachh Bharat across every corner of the city.

Hemang Joshi, the city’s MP, told ANI that the response was overwhelming. “Within a few hours of opening registrations, every slot was filled. Thousands of cyclists, families, and especially 1,500 enthusiastic children, joined the rally to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It truly reflects the spirit of Viksit Bharat – a nation moving forward together.”

Arun Mahesh Babu, the Municipal Commissioner, added that the cyclothon was part of a six‑day cleanliness crusade. “We’ve cleaned temples, heritage sites, schools, anganwadis, hospitals and even ponds. Tomorrow, the final day will kick off with a padyatra, reinforcing our commitment to a spotless, healthy city.”

Prime Minister Modi is slated to visit Vadodara and nearby Navsari on September 8, where he will unveil several development projects. His past speeches have repeatedly underscored the importance of citizen participation in Swachh Bharat, making this local effort a timely tribute.
