Twin Gun Attacks Rock Mohali, Chandigarh: Gym Owner Injured in Dramatic Spree

A shocking wave of violence swept across Mohali and Chandigarh on Thursday afternoon as unidentified gunmen carried out two separate firing incidents within an hour, leaving a gym owner critically injured. The first incident, and the more severe, occurred around 3:30 PM in Mohali.

Gaurav Chauhan, the owner of a popular gym, was ambushed by at least two assailants near his establishment in Phase 11. According to initial reports, Chauhan was targeted as he went about his routine. The attackers, who are believed to have been waiting for him, opened fire, hitting him multiple times.

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene, with the sound of gunshots piercing the afternoon calm. Chauhan was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical but stable.

Just an hour later, around 4:30 PM, a second firing incident unfolded, this time in the bustling Sector 15 market of Chandigarh.

In what appeared to be a more targeted act of intimidation, unidentified gunmen fired shots at the office of a prominent builder. While no injuries were reported in this incident, the audacity of the attack in broad daylight, in a busy commercial area, has deeply alarmed residents and business owners.

The bullet marks on the office facade serve as a stark reminder of the close call.

Police in both Mohali and Chandigarh have launched extensive investigations into the incidents. While the motive behind the attacks remains unclear, preliminary investigations suggest that the Mohali shooting could be linked to personal enmity or ongoing rivalries within the local business community.

The Chandigarh incident is being probed for potential links to extortion or land disputes, common tactics employed by criminal elements in the region.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Mohali, Sandeep Garg, confirmed the Mohali firing and stated that multiple teams have been formed to apprehend the culprits.

"We are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and interrogating potential witnesses," Garg said. "All angles are being investigated, and we will ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice." Similarly, Chandigarh police have intensified patrolling and set up checkpoints across the city to prevent further untoward incidents.

The back-to-back shootings have sparked outrage among local residents and political leaders, who are demanding immediate action from law enforcement agencies.
