Tragedy Over Fresno: Small Plane Crash Claims Two Young Lives, Leaves Two Adults Fighting for Survival

The afternoon of Saturday, Sept 5, 2026, turned tragic in the northwest corner of Fresno when a modest‑size plane slammed into the hillside near Sierra Sky Park Airport.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at about 1:50 p.m., just off Blythe Avenue. First‑responders arrived to find the wreckage perched on the bluff above the San Joaquin River, already alight.

Fire crews from the Fresno Fire Department and the North Central Fire District swung into action, pouring water and foam to douse the flames before the fire could jump to neighboring homes. The blaze was soon under control, but the sight was harrowing.
