Our beloved CafeTO program is officially making its grand return this weekend, flinging open the doors, or rather, the sidewalks and curb lanes, for what promises to be another spectacular patio season. It really does feel like the unofficial start of summer, doesn't it?

For those perhaps new to the city, or just needing a friendly reminder, CafeTO is truly something special. It’s the city’s fantastic initiative that transforms our bustling streets, quite literally, by letting restaurants expand their dining areas onto sidewalks and even into curb lanes. Think more space, more fresh air, and just a whole lot more opportunity to enjoy a meal or a coffee al fresco. We're talking about a huge undertaking here – over 900 businesses across more than 60 Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) are diving in, ready to welcome you from now right through until November. That’s a good, long stretch of patio weather, if you ask me!

Beyond the simple joy of outdoor dining, which is considerable, CafeTO brings some serious benefits to our communities. It's not just about a delicious brunch under the sun; it's about giving a vital shot in the arm to our local restaurants and cafes. These businesses, the heart and soul of our neighbourhoods, get a real boost in capacity and, let's be honest, atmosphere.
