Teen Charged with Attempted Murder After Triple Shooting in Norristown

On the evening of August 1, a quiet street in Norristown turned chaotic when gunfire rang out from a house on East Chestnut Street. Three people – a 17‑year‑old girl, a 19‑year‑old man and a 25‑year‑old man – were hit and rushed to nearby trauma centers for treatment.

Investigators quickly zeroed in on an 18‑year‑old from Pottstown named Rashaad Oliver. According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Oliver and a companion, Zion Kennedy, approached the residence, got into a scuffle with a man standing outside, and the situation escalated dramatically.

Police say Oliver was punched in the face during the altercation, breaking his front teeth. In what appears to be a rash response, he drew a firearm and discharged three rounds, striking the three victims – two of whom were inside the home at the time.

Detectives recovered a trove of video evidence, including cellphone recordings and surveillance footage, that placed Oliver and Kennedy at the scene and captured the heated exchange. The visual clues proved crucial in tracking the suspects.

Just days later, on August 4, the New Jersey State Police stopped the duo in Atlantic City on unrelated charges. Both were taken into custody and promptly extradited back to Montgomery County, where Oliver now faces a litany of accusations.

His charging document lists three counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, and illegal possession of a firearm, among other offenses. A bail package of $1,000,077 cash was set, and he remains confined at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is slated for August 26.

The incident has rattled the close‑knit community, reminding residents that violent outbursts can erupt without warning. Local officials urge anyone with additional information or footage to come forward, emphasizing that cooperation is key to preventing future tragedies.
