Pulivendula Medical College: A Grand Deception? MLC Ramagopal Reddy Alleges CM Jagan is Misleading Public

A storm of political controversy is brewing in Andhra Pradesh, with MLC Ramagopal Reddy launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, accusing him of a grand deception regarding the Pulivendula Medical College. Reddy, a prominent voice from the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP), claims the Chief Minister is deliberately misleading the public about the project's progress, painting a grim picture of stalled works and unfulfilled promises.

According to MLC Reddy, the ambitious medical college project in Pulivendula, a constituency of immense symbolic importance, has ground to a halt.

He alleges that the construction efforts have completely stopped due to a severe lack of allocated funds, while crucial land acquisition processes remain woefully incomplete. This stands in stark contrast to the celebratory inauguration performed by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy himself on March 2, 2023 – an event the Opposition now brands as a premature show devoid of substance.

The reality on the ground, Reddy asserts, is that the college remains a skeletal structure, far from operational.

There has been no recruitment of essential faculty, no admissions for aspiring medical students have taken place, and consequently, the much-touted dream of quality medical education for the region's youth remains a distant mirage. This alleged inaction not only betrays public trust but also undermines the aspirations of countless students hoping for a future in medicine.

Adding another layer to the controversy, MLC Reddy challenged why the Pulivendula Medical College is conspicuously absent from the list of institutions receiving crucial central government funding, unlike other medical colleges in districts such as Piduguralla, Machilipatnam, and Vizianagaram, which are reportedly making headway.

This discrepancy raises serious questions about the state government's financial management and its commitment to the Pulivendula project, implying either a lack of genuine intent or significant irregularities in its execution.

Reddy further pointed out the historical context, emphasizing that the Pulivendula Medical College was initially conceived by former Chief Minister Y.S.

Rajasekhara Reddy, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laying its foundation stone. He vehemently accused Jagan Mohan Reddy of merely performing an inauguration and attempting to take undue credit for projects initiated by previous administrations, thereby misleading the electorate. In light of these grave allegations, MLC Ramagopal Reddy has unequivocally called for an immediate and thorough investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to uncover the truth behind the alleged corruption and the Chief Minister's 'misleading statements.' The Opposition demands complete transparency and accountability, particularly when it concerns critical infrastructure like medical colleges that promise vital services and opportunities to the populace.
