Dube Memorial National Teachers' Award for 2024. Currently serving as the Dean of the School of Social Sciences and International Studies, Dr.

Balasubramanian received this prestigious accolade from the Indian Academy of Social Sciences, marking a significant recognition of his stellar contributions to the realm of higher education.

The esteemed award ceremony took place during the 47th Indian Social Science Congress, a gathering of brilliant minds held in the vibrant city of Chandigarh.

The atmosphere was charged with admiration as Dr. Balasubramanian was honored for his profound impact across teaching, research, and community outreach within the social sciences. His dedication and passion have truly set a benchmark for academic excellence and societal engagement.

Dr. Balasubramanian's journey with Pondicherry University began in 1991, and since then, his career has been a testament to relentless commitment and leadership.

With an impressive tenure, he has served as the Head of the Department of Social Work for a remarkable 14 years, shaping countless young minds and fostering a dynamic learning environment. His leadership extended to the crucial role of Dean of Students' Welfare for three years, where he tirelessly worked to enhance the overall student experience and well-being.

Beyond his administrative and teaching roles, Dr.

Balasubramanian is a prolific scholar. His intellectual footprint is vast, encompassing the authorship of 11 insightful books and the publication of over 100 research papers that have significantly enriched academic discourse. A true mentor, he has guided the academic pursuits of 30 Ph.D. scholars and an impressive 48 M.Phil.
