Major Drug Bust in Mohali: Nigerian National Apprehended with High-Value Cocaine and MDMA

In a significant crackdown on illicit drug trade, Mohali police have successfully apprehended a Nigerian national, seizing a substantial quantity of high-value narcotics. The operation, a major win against burgeoning drug networks, led to the confiscation of 105 grams of cocaine and 100 grams of MDMA, with an estimated international market value of nearly Rs 2 crore.

The arrested individual has been identified as Ifeanyi Johnson, a Nigerian national currently residing in Delhi.

Police sources indicate that Johnson was a key player in a wider drug distribution network, supplying narcotics to clients across the Chandigarh and Mohali region, posing a serious threat to the local youth and public safety.

The breakthrough came after meticulous intelligence gathering and sustained surveillance by the Mohali police.

A dedicated team, acting on specific information, laid a trap near Airport Road. The suspect, Ifeanyi Johnson, was intercepted while allegedly attempting to deliver the illicit substances, leading to his immediate arrest and the recovery of the drugs from his possession.

DSP Gursher Singh Sandhu, who spearheaded the operation along with Inspector Manphul Singh, confirmed the details of the bust.

"This is a significant seizure that highlights the persistent efforts of our police force to combat drug trafficking," Sandhu stated. "The recovered drugs, particularly cocaine and MDMA, are highly potent and command a steep price in the black market, making their removal from circulation crucial for community well-being."

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Ifeanyi Johnson under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Phase 1 police station.

Further investigations are underway to dismantle the entire supply chain, identify other accomplices, and uncover any international links that may be operating within the region. Authorities are also scrutinizing Johnson's background and previous activities to ascertain the full extent of his involvement in the drug trade.

The Mohali police have reiterated their commitment to intensifying their campaign against drug peddlers and ensuring a drug-free environment for its citizens.
