Livestreamed LA Police Chase Ends in Arrests

It was one of those moments you’d expect only in movies – a speeding car, flashing red‑and‑blue lights, a helicopter’s spotlight cutting through the pre‑dawn darkness – except this time, the drivers themselves were broadcasting the whole thing on Instagram Live.

The user, known on the platform as 310_luis_, hit “Go Live” just after 3:45 a.m. as LAPD officers from Van Nuys began a pursuit of a man who, according to police, was carrying a gun. The frantic feed captured the suspects shouting, cursing, and trying to decide where to go next, while viewers typed frantic comments like “lose them first and then toss it.”

Through the grainy video you can hear the engine revving, the occasional “I don’t know where to go, my n—” stammered by one of the riders, and the clatter of a backpack being shuffled around. At one point a voice says, “Get the backpack ready,” followed by a panicked reply to hold onto it as sirens wail behind them.

Police didn’t take long to gain the upper hand. A LAPD helicopter locked onto the vehicle, its beam painting the black car in stark white. The chase veered south on the 405, barreling toward the 7th Street bridge, where the suspects finally ran out of room to maneuver.

When the dust settled, four men were in handcuffs, the livestream now silent. Officers were seen rummaging through the trunk of the black car and sifting through a backpack that held an assortment of screwdrivers, wires, and other tools – nothing that immediately explains the gun‑related tip that started the pursuit.

The identities of the four arrested individuals haven’t been released, nor have the exact charges. What is clear, though, is that the attempt to turn a police chase into an online show only ended with a very real and very unwanted cameo: the livestreamer himself, 310_luis_, sitting in a police squad car.

It’s a stark reminder that broadcasting a crime scene doesn’t make it any less serious – and that sometimes, the cameras catch more than the chase itself.
