Lebanon Man Shawn Mooney Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Police Officer

A routine welfare check in Lebanon, New Hampshire, escalated into a serious incident early Saturday morning, culminating in the arrest of a 36-year-old man accused of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief.

According to Lebanon Police, officers were dispatched to the vicinity of South Main Street, near a local McDonald's, just after 2:30 AM.

The call reported a man lying in the roadway, prompting concerns for his safety and potential traffic hazards.

Upon arrival, officers located the individual, identified as Shawn Mooney, 36, of Lebanon. As law enforcement attempted to assess Mooney's condition and offer assistance, the situation reportedly took a turn.

Police allege that Mooney became combative, actively resisting the officers' efforts to ensure his well-being. During the altercation, he is accused of physically pushing one of the responding officers.

The struggle continued as officers worked to bring Mooney under control and place him into custody.

In addition to the alleged assault and resistance, Mooney is also charged with criminal mischief. Authorities reported that during the incident, he caused damage to a police cruiser, though specifics of the damage were not immediately released.

Following his arrest, Mooney was transported and held on preventative detention at the Lebanon Police Department.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday at the Grafton County Superior Court, where he will face charges of Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Mischief.
