Jammu & Kashmir Police Officer Killed in Anantnag Attack

On a chilly evening in early June, the usually quiet lanes near Doru village in Anantnag turned into a flashpoint of violence. Around 5:30 p.m., a senior police officer – Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar – was on routine patrol when a motorcycle, tilted low and rattling, roared past his convoy.

Before anyone could react, two masked gunmen on the bike unleashed a barrage of fire. Bullets ripped through the air, striking SSP Kumar directly. He slumped to the ground, gravely wounded, as his fellow officers scrambled for cover and returned fire.
