India's Stance Firm: TikTok Ban Remains Despite Accessibility Buzz

A wave of speculation recently swept across India, sparked by reports and user observations that suggested the popular short-video platform TikTok's website might be accessible to some. This unexpected development led many to wonder if the controversial ban, imposed years ago, had quietly been lifted, paving the way for the app's return to the Indian digital landscape.

However, these hopes were swiftly dashed by an unequivocal clarification from the Indian government.

Authorities, through the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), have firmly stated that the prohibition on TikTok remains fully in force. Experts suggest that the reported accessibility of TikTok's website could be attributed to a number of factors, none of which indicate a lifting of the ban.

These might include technical glitches, the use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) by individuals to circumvent regional restrictions, or even remnants of cached data. Such instances do not, in any way, signify an official change in the government's highly-publicized and steadfast stance.

As such, for the millions of users who once flocked to TikTok, the wait continues.
