Horror Unveiled: 40 Minor Girls Rescued from Shocking Confinement in Unregistered UP Madrasa

In a heart-wrenching discovery that has sent shockwaves across Uttar Pradesh, a joint operation by local police, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and Childline has successfully rescued 40 minor girls from a deplorable situation in an unregistered madrasa in Bahraich. The girls, aged between 8 and 16, were found confined and locked in a single toilet within the premises of the Jamia Arabia Faizul Uloom madrasa.

The harrowing rescue unfolded following a crucial tip-off received by the authorities regarding suspicious activities at the unregistered educational institution.

Prompt action led a dedicated team to raid the facility, uncovering the shocking reality of the children's living conditions. Hafiz Mohammad Imtiyaz, identified as the manager of the madrasa, has since been arrested in connection with the incident, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against him under relevant sections of the law, including the Juvenile Justice Act.

The rescued girls hail from various districts, including Bahraich, Balrampur, and Shravasti, with some even coming from Nepal.

Initial investigations suggest a disturbing lack of space and the absence of proper facilities at the madrasa, which reportedly led to the girls being crammed into a toilet for an extended period. This inhumane treatment has sparked outrage and highlighted serious concerns about the oversight and regulation of such institutions.

Ram Niwas Chaudhary, Chairman of the CWC, Bahraich, vehemently condemned the conditions, stating, "The girls were subjected to inhuman treatment.

We have ensured their safe transfer to a child shelter where they are receiving care and support." He further elaborated on the immediate steps taken: "Medical examinations have been conducted on all the rescued children, and we are in the process of contacting their parents to inform them of the situation and facilitate their reunion."

The incident has also prompted a broader response from district authorities.

The District Magistrate of Bahraich has taken a serious view of the matter, issuing directives for a comprehensive investigation into all unregistered madrasas operating within the district. This proactive measure aims to prevent similar incidents and ensure the safety and well-being of children across the region.
