The whole kerfuffle, it seems, began with a rather common request. Santhosh, simply doing his duty, spotted a passenger, R.S. Rajesh (a 37-year-old fellow from Piravanthoor), seemingly blocking the entrance of the crowded superfast bus. Naturally, he politely asked Rajesh to move a little further inside, you know, to make room for others and ensure a smooth flow. It’s a standard operating procedure, really, something conductors do countless times a day.

But instead of complying, Rajesh allegedly became agitated. Very agitated. Words were exchanged, tempers flared, and what should have been a simple, everyday interaction quickly spiraled out of control. And then, the unthinkable happened: Rajesh, in a moment of pure, unadulterated rage, actually bit the conductor on his right hand. Can you imagine? A bite! Poor Santhosh, reeling from the sudden attack and the pain, immediately sought medical attention at the Punalur Taluk Hospital. Meanwhile, KSRTC officials weren't about to let this stand. They wasted no time lodging a formal complaint with the police. As a result, authorities quickly tracked down and arrested Rajesh. He's since been charged under non-bailable sections, reflecting the seriousness of the incident, and has been remanded.

This whole episode, quite frankly, serves as a stark reminder of the often challenging and sometimes downright dangerous environment faced by those working in public service.
