A Canvas for Community: How New Murals Are Painting Spearfish with Pride

And for Spearfish, it seems that two vibrant, newly completed murals are doing just that, bringing a fresh splash of color and storytelling to both the City Campground and Evans Park. It’s more than just paint on a wall, really; it’s a celebration, a reflection of the town's spirit, and a lovely invitation to pause and look a little closer at the beauty around us.

First up, there's the truly impressive piece gracing the Spearfish City Campground, a collaborative masterpiece crafted by local artists Hannah Huser and Katie Zieske. Spanning a generous 10 by 40 feet, this mural is an absolute delight, designed in what one might call a vintage postcard style. It’s wonderfully evocative, showcasing iconic Spearfish landmarks—think Lookout Mountain, the ever-so-serene Spearfish Creek, and, of course, the abundant fish and wildlife that define our region.
