Xiaomi 13T Pro HyperOS update with Android 14 is now widely rolling out in Europe

Xiaomi is done with MIUI. Back in October, the company's CEO, Lei Jun, officially unveiled the next iteration of the company's skin on top of Android. It's called HyperOS and it will soon be rolling out to a bunch of Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco devices. Today, HyperOS has started widely going out to Xiaomi 13T Pro units in Europe.

It arrives over the air as a 5.8GB download, so make sure you have enough space for it before you proceed. Xiaomi 13T Pro Hyper OS update with Android 14 Once the installation is complete (and fair warning, it does take some time), you will be on OS version 1.0.3.0.UMLEUXM. Of course, HyperOS is based on Android 14, so that will be there too, underneath.

The Xiaomi 13T Pro is also receiving the December 1, 2023 security patch level with this update. The changelog is quite extensive (see the screenshots above), but we do have to caution you against expecting HyperOS to be a huge departure from MIUI. Sure, there are some new features, but overall the looks have been slightly improved, and not fundamentally changed.

This would have passed for MIUI 15, or even MIUI 14.5, without an issue. So we have a glaring suspicion that the rebranding is more about marketing (let's face it HyperOS sounds a lot better than MIUI) than anything else at the moment. Of course, that could all change with future releases. Back to the changelog it mentions that there is optimized performance for each device, which is fine but we haven't felt any difference in real life usage compared to MIUI.

Then again, that was plenty fast, and incredibly smooth to begin with. The claimed power efficiency and signal stability improvements we haven't had time to evaluate yet. The lock screen is heavily customizable now, with multiple effects and looks, and some home screen icons have been refreshed.

The multi window interface has received an upgrade too. And of course, all of Google's background improvements should be packed in as well. The rollout is likely to go out in stages, so if you have a European Xiaomi 13T Pro (which it is if it has "EU" in the MIUI Version string) you may not have received the update notification yet.

But it's only a matter of days at most now that the ball's rolling. And by the way, this isn't a beta or a "stable beta" or a release that's only going out to testers who enrolled in some testing program it's the real deal that's out for everyone..
