Unearthing History's Danger: WWII Bomb Shakes Bratislava

The Slovak capital of Bratislava was brought to a standstill on Tuesday following the discovery of a formidable 250-kilogram (550-pound) World War II aerial bomb. Unearthed during ongoing construction work for a new government headquarters in the city's bustling downtown, the unexploded ordnance immediately prompted a large-scale safety operation and widespread evacuations, sending ripples of concern through the historic district.

The dangerous relic, a stark reminder of Europe's tumultuous past, was found near Bratislava's Old Town, a popular and densely populated area.
