“Firefighters advanced a hose line and began a fast attack while another crew began searching the home for any occupants,” Ottawa Fire said in a release. They were able to confirm there were no occupants inside. “The fire had burned off the natural gas line, which was leaking, creating a hazard on scene for firefighters.” The blaze spread into the attic, prompting firefighters on the roof to remove the roof vents and spray water into the attic.
The fire was declared under control at 3:05 p.m. Crews removed parts of the walls and ceilings inside to check for any extensions. “Three adults, who safely exited the home, will require victim assistance and will be displaced,” OFS said. A fire inspector has been dispatched to investigate the fire.
There were no injuries, OFS said.
