The Foiled Plot: How Police Unraveled a Contract Killing Attempt in Periyapatna

Well, believe it or not, that’s exactly what unfolded recently in Periyapatna, a quiet corner of Mysuru district, Karnataka. Thankfully, due to the sharp vigilance and swift action of our local police force, this sinister scheme was nipped in the bud, and a potential tragedy averted.

At the heart of this whole sordid affair was a simmering land dispute, a disagreement that, sadly, escalated far beyond civil discussion. The intended victim, Lokesh, a resident from Hampapura, found himself unknowingly caught in the crosshairs of a deep-seated grudge. It seems the primary orchestrator, a man named Nagesh, also from the area, harbored significant ill-will towards Lokesh over this very land, an animosity so profound that he allegedly decided to take matters into his own hands, but not directly, of course.

Instead, the chilling allegation is that Nagesh decided to hire what we commonly refer to as 'supari' killers – individuals who, for a fee, are willing to commit heinous acts. A substantial sum, reportedly ₹3 lakh, was promised for the job, with a cold, hard ₹50,000 paid upfront as an advance to one Sunil, said to be from KR Nagar. Sunil, it's understood, then allegedly brought in others – Hemanth, also from KR Nagar, and a trio from Mysuru named Manu, Manjunath, Rakesh, and Kiran. It paints quite a picture, doesn't it? A network of individuals, all supposedly roped into this dark conspiracy.

But thankfully, as these plots often go, the dark veil of secrecy couldn't hold forever. The Periyapatna police, under the astute leadership of Circle Inspector B.C. Lokesh and PSI Vinay Kumar, caught wind of the nefarious plan. And what a response it was! Moving with impressive speed and precision, they swooped in, managing to apprehend a total of seven individuals linked to this attempted crime. Among those taken into custody are Nagesh, the alleged mastermind, along with Sunil, Hemanth, Manu, Manjunath, Rakesh, and Kiran – the very names whispered in connection with the plot. They even managed to seize a machete, a long, menacing weapon, which was, no doubt, intended for the darkest of purposes.

This incident, frankly, serves as a stark reminder of how quickly disputes can spiral out of control and the lengths some individuals might go to. Yet, it also stands as a powerful testament to the tireless work of our police force, who, through their timely intervention, quite literally saved a life and ensured that justice, or at least the pursuit of it, prevailed.
